An overwhelming majority of UAE residents believe the country will have a positive impact on world affairs over the next decade, according to a new global survey.

The survey, conducted by Ipsos, found that 92% (the highest in the world) of UAE residents believe that the UAE will have an overall positive impact on global affairs within the next ten years.

This is higher than developed countries and larger economies such as Australia, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Italy, etc.

The survey was conducted by Ipsos on its Global Advisor online platform, covering 33 countries. It said the UAE sample was more urbanized, better educated and/or wealthier than the general population and should be seen as reflecting the views of a more “connected” segment of its population.

The positive image of the UAE and its contributions have also been recognized by global institutions. In August, a report published by U.S. News & World Report in partnership with the BAV Group and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania placed the UAE at tenth on a list of top 10 powers alongside the U.S., China, Russia, Germany, the U.K., Japan , France, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.

The economic and political cloud in the UAE is believed to have improved following the signing of the historic Abraham Accords in September 2020. In addition, as the world’s major oil producer, the UAE has repeatedly stated that its goal is a stable oil supply to achieve a stable global energy market. All these factors have strengthened the UAE’s image as a responsible and influential country in world affairs.

Other countries that will have the most positive impact on world affairs in the next ten years, according to responses from UAE residents, are Saudi Arabia (87%), Canada and Germany (77%), China (71%), the World Bank (70%), the European Union (69%), IMF and UK (68%), UN (67%), France (64%), India (63%), US (62%) and Russia (61%).
