The children called the department’s helpline 800700 and told about their experiences.
After learning of their plight, SSSD and the Sharjah police managed to find the mother and call her. She confirmed that the children were indeed hers, and then the department arranged a meeting at the child protection center.
The authorities described the reunion as an exciting reunion, seeing the mother and her two children shed tears of joy.
The department stated that the children moved from one place to another, so their mother has not been aware of their whereabouts.
The mother expressed her gratitude to the authorities for helping her reunite with her child 11 years later.
The department calls on families and parents not to let their disputes affect their children. They must not be used as leverage in divorce or separation cases, as this will affect their emotional health.
