Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been named the social media capital of the world, according to a new study Proxy rack.
The study analyzed each country’s average number of social platforms and the percentage of the population using Facebook to reveal the world’s social media capital.
“The UAE tops the list of social media capitals of the world with a near-perfect score of 9.55 out of 10. Emiratis own an average of 8.2 social media platforms, tied for third in the world with the Philippines,” said Proxyrack.
The study said the UAE is the most connected country in the world with a connectivity score of 7.53/10.
UAE residents also have social media accounts on several platforms, notably Facebook and TikTok.
Internet is expensive in the UAE, but 100% of the population uses the Internet and 108% use Facebook, the study found.
Research shows that UAE users spend an average of 7 hours and 29 minutes per day on the Internet.
The UAE was followed by Malaysia/Philippines, both scoring 8.75.
According to the ProxyRac report, India ranks 19th, with only 29% of the population using Facebook, yet spending nearly nine hours a day on the Internet.
