The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has added 30 new creative majors to the list of scholarships available to UAE students to help them turn their talents into successful careers.
ADEK said the creative education programmes cover eight fields including arts and humanities, health and well-being, business administration and law, information and communication technology, education, services, engineering, construction and manufacturing, in addition to social and behavioural sciences. .
The department explained that it will offer scholarships for creative courses including animation, creative writing, fashion design, film and video studies, cinematography, fine arts (art theory, calligraphy, painting, art philosophy), graphic design, industrial design (products Design) and Jewellery, Interior Design, Language and Composition, and Music and Performing Arts (Acting, Directing, Drama, Drama and Music Composition).
Other new creative disciplines include advertising and brand management, arts and entertainment management, entrepreneurship and innovation, automotive and transport design, landscape architecture, theatre therapy, 3D design, video game production, web design, culinary arts, sports training, and journalism and mass media.
ADEK, through the Abu Dhabi Scholarship Program, provides scholarships for creative people to earn a 4-year bachelor’s degree at one of the world’s top 150 universities or depending on major, and introduces students to different cultures and equips them with Global experience.
It also provides students with the opportunity to network and receive mentorship and mentorship from industry leaders, as well as providing them with local and international internships in professional fields.
Officials emphasised that the Abu Dhabi Scholarship Scheme has several benefits, including providing sponsored students with a unique personal academic journey, stipends and awards based on performance and academic level, and assistance with job opportunities after graduation.
Students may also have access to internships and employment opportunities at more than 90 institutions and institutions in the country.
According to the authorities, if students have been admitted to one of the top 20 universities in the world, they can bypass the eligibility criteria and conditions and add their names directly to the scholarship nomination list.
ADEK clarified that the admission criteria and conditions for Year 12 graduates state that students must be UAE citizens, be between the ages of 17 and 24, and have an average of 85% and above. Grade 11 exams and must have an average of 90% and above on the Grade 12 exams (semester 1).
Students must have unconditional academic admission to a top 150 university to study one of the program’s approved majors and must achieve a minimum score of 6.0 in the IELTS (academic) test or 60 in the TOEFL iBT test. Students must have a score of 1,100 and above on the Math (EMSAT) test.
