DCD assisted in writing the mental health chapter of the guidelines.
The guide for domestic workers discusses various topics in this category, such as workload, adjusting to a new location and culture, and spending enough time with friends.
The guidance also highlights some key themes in this regard, including financial management, working hours and the importance of adequate rest to promote physical and mental health.
In addition, the guide provides guidance on how to properly address all related issues and provides strategies for managing life’s stress through self-care, such as adopting a healthy diet, exercising in your free time, scheduling time for rest, practicing deep breathing, turning to spirituality, and spending time with your family Participating in activities etc. together can improve the quality of life.
Dr Layla Al Hyas, Executive Director of DCD’s Community Development Sector, said: “DCD will continue to work with its strategic partners to improve the ecosystem in the social sector and implement programs and services specifically designed to meet the needs of community members and provide them with essential support to effectively cope with mental stress. DCD’s ongoing initiatives and efforts to support mental health are in line with the sector’s responsibility to provide high-quality services to all communities to ensure the social well-being of the Abu Dhabi community.”
She added that DCD is committed to promoting effective community participation in development and ensuring the sustainable development of the community by adopting long-term strategic plans and promoting positive change to overcome all challenges.
Abdullah Al Nuaimi, MoHRE’s Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic Workers Sector, praised the DCD’s contribution to the success of the guide. He further emphasized the importance of collaboration between entities involved in the social sector to create a better business environment in the UAE and improve the quality of life of domestic workers as they are also an important part of the community.
Al Nuaimi added: “In line with relevant resolutions and policies, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has given high priority to improving collaboration with stakeholders, including the Federal Government, local governments and private organizations, as we believe it is essential in accordance with the directives of our wise leadership , to integrate the roles of partners according to their responsibilities and as part of our efforts to meet the aspirations of UAE citizens and business owners.”
The Domestic Workers Act places high priority on optimizing the safety and security of domestic workers during their stay in the UAE by ensuring the protection of their rights. The guidelines created by MoHRE clarify the rights of domestic workers, their privileges and responsibilities, and raise their awareness of the traditions of the UAE community, further enhancing their quality of life.
