UAE: New summer course gives kids chance to work as guides at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – News

Children can learn to organize special cultural tours at iconic landmarks

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) has launched the 10th edition of the Youth Cultural Guide Programme as part of the Youth Builders Programme, a youth capacity building programme.

The programme provides them with career opportunities as cultural tour guides and lets them know how to organise these tours within the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

The centre distributed a reference book to participants that included a detailed explanation of the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, general information about the UAE, traditions and customs of the local community, and Sheikh Zayed’s Islamic architectural aesthetics Grand Mosque.

This aims to develop children’s skills, abilities and knowledge of UAE history and culture. Apprentices also hone skills in public speaking and communicating with others, and have the opportunity to learn about different cultures.

The program kicked off on Sunday and will run until August 25 for students in the 11- to 14-year-old age group.

The launch of the programme coincides with International Youth Day and reflects the civilized and humanitarian face of the UAE, as well as SZGMC’s efforts to instill genuine Emirati values ​​in the younger generation and develop their knowledge and skills.

Amal Bamatraf, Director of Cultural Communication at SZGMC, said: “The launch of the programme coincides with the International Youth Day to hone the skills of youth during the summer holidays and showcase the shining image of a tolerant Islamic culture as part of Islamic culture. The mission of SZGMC is to promote the UAE A message about intercultural coexistence and peace.”

Jamal Al Dahmani, Director of Worshipers and Visitors Services at SZGMC, said the programme is based on an early and continuous learning approach, honing the skills and harnessing energy of the younger generation through a series of training workshops to become a well-known cultural tour guide for youth, said, The centre’s strategy aims to instill a culture of volunteering in youth, providing young people with opportunities to volunteer both inside and outside the centre, which helps to develop their character, social skills and dedication.

He added that SZGMC is also committed to nurturing the talents of young people to prepare them for the future through the Youth Cultural Mentoring Programme, which utilizes special courses, coupled with workshops and field training, to develop their ability to take responsibility. In his early years, he became a cultural tourism expert and a national ambassador.

Al Dahmani said the total number of graduates from the Youth Cultural Guide programme reached 389.
