The UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) and the Oman Environment Agency have signed an initial agreement to promote sustainable development and strengthen cooperation in areas related to environmental protection.

The MoU was part of a visit to Oman by a UAE delegation led by Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment. During the visit, ways of cooperating in strengthening fisheries cooperation, achieving net-zero emissions targets, mangrove planting, and the UAE’s preparations for the COP28 climate summit were discussed.
According to the agreement, the two parties will exchange best practices and conduct joint research in areas such as environmental protection, improving air quality, biodiversity conservation, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SGD), and compiling sustainable development progress reports, the official news agency Wan reports.
Almheiri explained that the UAE seeks to encourage the implementation of environmentally friendly solutions to environmental challenges.
This visit includes a meeting with Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Oman Environment Agency;
Oman is seeking to diversify its economy and has signed a series of cross-border agreements.
The public and private sectors of Saudi Arabia and Oman recently signed a memorandum of understanding for investments covering various sectors, including renewable energy and green hydrogen.
