The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pardoned more than 1,000 prisoners Before Ramadan comes, The official news agency WAM reported late Tuesday.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the release of prisoners ahead of the holy month, which is scheduled to start in the UAE on Thursday.

“The move is part of President Mohammed’s humanitarian initiative, reflecting the values ​​of forgiveness and tolerance, giving pardoned prisoners the opportunity to start a new life and alleviate the suffering of their families,” WAM said in a statement.
