UAE: Patients struggling with depression get relief with new nasal spray-News

[ad_1]

Seha introduced this new treatment for patients suffering from treatment-resistant depression.

The largest healthcare network in the UAE has started using new nasal sprays to treat and manage severe depression in adults.

According to doctors from Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha), Escetamine nasal spray can provide relief for people who have tried other antidepressant treatments but have little or no effect.

The medicine is Recognized in the UAE in 2020After obtaining approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency.

Seha introduced this new treatment for patients suffering from treatment-resistant depression.

Esketamine targets new receptors in the brain, not the receptors traditionally treated with antidepressants. It is currently being managed by a psychiatric clinic for outpatient medical services; Sheikh Khalifa Medical City; and Al Ain Hospital.

“Mental health problems and their treatments vary from patient to patient, which is why we are happy to add another therapy to our services to provide us with more… solutions that can be tailored for each patient Program,” said consultant Dr. Nahida Niaz Ahmed, Seha’s psychiatrist and chairman of the Behavioral Health Committee.

Many patients receiving treatment emphasize the effectiveness of Escetamine.

A 30-year-old man-who has struggled with major depression for the past six years-prescribed Escetamine after trying other types of drugs and even shock therapy to no avail.

However, after using the nasal spray for a month, he noticed a positive impact on his views and lifestyle. Now he exercises and interacts with people every day. He even has the motivation to find a job and support his family.

A 20-year-old woman was diagnosed with severe depression and found that the previous medications did not have any benefit. Her condition improved with nasal spray. Her suicidal thoughts also diminished.

Thanks to the new treatment, another young man — he isolated himself in his room and stopped studying for more than three years — has returned to school and is on his way to university.

Seha has a wide range of specialties and departments to treat patients with mental health problems. It provides telemedicine services and has established mobile clinics, specialized psychiatric centers and home care.
