DUBAI – The Philippine Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Renato N. Dueñas, praised the bilateral relationship between the Philippines and the UAE, which continues to grow in economic, cultural and social spheres.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Dunias highlighted the development of UAE-Philippines relations over the past two decades, noting that their economic cooperation has made significant progress, particularly the signing of a programme to promote and Protection of investments between the two countries of the Association Agreement.

He also praised the success of Expo 2020 Dubai, during which the two countries announced further negotiations that could lead to the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

He welcomed the UAE’s humanitarian initiatives, which have helped strengthen its relationship with the country, in addition to supporting foreign residents, including the Filipino community, which is the largest community in the UAE, according to its values ​​of coexistence and coexistence. one. Diversification.

Dueñas said last month’s celebration of Philippine Independence Day, organized by the Filipino community in Dubai, with the presence of Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, was further proof of the strong bond between the two countries.

He added that trade flows and investments between the two countries, as well as UAE foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Philippines, continued to surge compared to 2020 and 2021, especially in the renewable energy sector.

The UAE is the Philippines’ largest export partner in the Middle East, with UAE trade increasing by 34.7% to AED3.5 billion (US$951 million) in 2021 compared to AED2.6 billion (US$705 million) in 2020 ).
