Dueñas said last month’s celebration of Philippine Independence Day, organized by the Filipino community in Dubai, with the presence of Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, was further proof of the strong bond between the two countries.
He added that trade flows and investments between the two countries, as well as UAE foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Philippines, continued to surge compared to 2020 and 2021, especially in the renewable energy sector.
The UAE is the Philippines’ largest export partner in the Middle East, with UAE trade increasing by 34.7% to AED3.5 billion (US$951 million) in 2021 compared to AED2.6 billion (US$705 million) in 2020 ).
