UAE, Poland strengthen cooperation in various fields

Dr. Sani Alzeyudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, affirmed that the bilateral relations between the UAE and the Republic of Poland are established and strong.

The continuous development of bilateral relations in various fields, especially in the economic and trade field, has opened up new horizons for bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.

This was during the third session of the Joint Economic Committee between the two countries in Warsaw, the Polish capital, during a meeting with some ministers and senior officials of the Polish government, in the presence of a number of government officials, businessmen and representatives of the private sectors of the two countries.

“As Poland is the UAE’s second trading partner in Eastern Europe, the two countries offer great opportunities to increase trade exchanges and establish investment projects in areas of mutual interest,” Al Zeyoudi added.

He continued, “The UAE’s total non-oil exports to Poland in 2021 will be around AED506 million, an increase of 64% compared to 2020. The UAE’s total non-oil exports to the Polish market will be around AED242 million. Growth in the first half of 2022 will be 13% compared to the same period in 2021.”

Compared to 2020, UAE re-exports to Poland amounted to around AED 415 million, a 67% increase compared to 2020. The UAE’s re-exports to the Polish market amounted to around AED 250 million in 2020. The first half of 2022 will see a growth rate of 105 percent compared to the same period in 2021, said Dr. Sani Al Zeyodi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade.

Al-Zeyoudi also held bilateral meetings with Poland’s Minister of State for Renewable Energy and Government Commissioner Irenes Zyska to study the possibility of establishing joint projects in the energy and renewable energy sectors. They further discussed ways to develop and exchange best experiences and practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of energy sector performance in both countries, especially modern technologies used in the renewable energy sector.

At another meeting, Sani Al Zeyudi discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in trade exchanges in food, agricultural and animal products with Rizade Bartosek, Polish Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development. The meeting also discussed ways to ensure the flow of goods and products in the markets of the two countries, in line with the strategic vision of the two countries to implement food security plans and provide large quantities of basic food commodities.

In addition, Al Zeyoudi held a bilateral meeting with Pavel Jabunski, Deputy Minister for Economic and Development Cooperation of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they discussed new mechanisms and plans to help increase foreign direct investment in areas of mutual interest between the two countries. They also discussed ways to support bilateral economic and trade cooperation in order to provide more investment opportunities for the UAE and Polish business communities in line with the common interests, visions and aspirations of both countries.

To strengthen the country’s vision for investment in the new economic sector, Tani Al Zeyudi met with Krzysztof Drianda, Chairman of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Jan Wenicki, CEO of the Polish National Food Group, and Representative of the Polish National Oil Company. The Polish Development Fund, the Polish National Development Bank and the Silesian Provincial Office discuss investment opportunities in the fields of technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and the food industry.

Thani Al Zeyoudi also visited “Asseco Group”, a Polish company specializing in software and technology development. He invited companies to join the “NEXTGEN FDI” initiative for the next generation of foreign direct investment and benefit from the advantages and possibilities offered by the UAE’s economic environment.

DMCC – the world’s flagship free zone and the Dubai Government’s Directorate of Commodities Trade and Enterprise – recently successfully concluded its first Live for Trade roadshow in Warsaw, Poland, highlighting the benefits of doing business in Dubai for Polish companies looking to expand internationally superior.

At the event, DMCC senior executives addressed more than 139 Polish business representatives from various industries. Speakers and delegates discussed Dubai’s strategic location and commercial appeal, as well as the ease of doing business in the world’s fastest growing and most connected free zone, DMCC. Discussions also focused on opportunities for the UAE and Poland to strengthen bilateral trade and commercial relations.
