Abu Dhabi Police issued a new warning on Saturday, reminding drivers to always park in front of mosques during this holy month of Ramadan.

Parking in front of a mosque, especially during Taraweeh prayers, blocks traffic and creates a hazard. In an announcement shared on social media, Abu Dhabi Police said that in some cases, this could impede the movement of emergency vehicles and even delay life-saving operations.

They added: “Don’t park your vehicle on the pavement and encroach on the pedestrian zone. The road belongs to everyone, so avoid stopping and blocking entrances.”

Parking in non-designated areas and on sidewalks is a traffic offense punishable by a fine of up to Dh1,000, local authorities said in a recent consultation.

Fines can be paid through Abu Dhabi Government’s digital channels or directly on the police’s customer service platform.

Motorists can also pay their dues in interest-free installments through Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Mashreq Bank and Emirates Islamic Bank.
