UAE Pro League announces 24 finalists for 2021-2022 season awards

ABU DHABI – Following the close of the voting period, the UAE Professional League has announced the 24 finalists for the 2021-2022 season award. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on August 27 at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The Emirates Professional League (UAEPL) revealed that voting was conducted from 5 to 10 August through the UAE Professional League’s official website, mobile applications and its social media accounts, with wide participation and high turnout.

The final shortlist for the Ballon d’Or for best UAE player will be a competition between Ismail Matar (Al Wahda), Bandar Al Ahbabi (Al Ain) and Ali Saleh (Al Wasl).

As for the Ballon d’Or, awarded to the best foreign player, the shortlist includes Soufiane Rahimi, Laba Kodjo (Al Ain) and Caio Lucas (Sharjah).

Meanwhile, the Golden Boy award for the best young UAE player list includes Harib Suhail (Shabab Al Ahli), Mohamed Abbas (Al Ain) and Sultan Adel (Ittihad Kalba).

As for the Golden Boy for Best Young Player (resident/UAE born), the list includes Ousmane Camara (Sharjah), Erik Jorgens (Al Ain) and Isam Faiz (Ajman).

The Best Goalkeeper Golden Glove will be contested between Mohamed Al Shamsi (Al Wahda), Ali Khasif (Al Jazira) and Khalid Eisa (Al Ain).

Sergiy Rebrov (Al Ain), Goran Tufegdzic (Ajman) and Olaroiu Cozmin (Sharjah) will compete for the Best Coach Leader award.

Meanwhile, the trio of Ali Mabkhout (Al Jazira), Omar Khribin (Al Wahda) and Soufiane Rahimi (Al Ain) will also compete for the Fans Player of the Year.

The Target of the Year award will be contested between Laba Kudjo (Al-Ain Vs. Al Wahda), Ali Saleh (Al-Wasl Vs. Shabab Al Ahli) and Ismail Matar (Al-Wahda Vs. Al Orooba).

There are three categories of awards; namely, vote-based categories, statistics-based categories, and criteria-based awards.

Voting-based categories include Best UAE Player Ballon d’Or, Best Foreign Player Ballon d’Or, Best Coach Leader, Best Young Emirati Player Golden Boy, Best Young Player Golden Boy (Resident/born in UAE) , Goalkeeper of the Year Golden Glove Award, Fan Player of the Year, Goal of the Year, Best Online Sports Media Platform.

Meanwhile, statistics-based categories include the Golden Boot for the top scorer in the league, the Silver Boot for the top scorer in the U21 league, the top fan attendance award, ADNOC Pro League Dream Manager of the Year and Dream Team.

Standards-based awards for professional excellence in club licensing.

Will be handed over to clubs that meet the criteria for club licensing, quality control, administrative penalties, cooperation and overall rankings in all competitions except the Emirates Super Cup.
