UAE public schools ready to admit more than 274,000 students on Monday

DUBAI: Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Schools Agency (ESE), will welcome 274,895 primary and secondary students in public schools across the UAE on Monday. ), said at a news conference on Wednesday.

“Schools in the UAE are ready for students who start on Monday. We have a few small challenges, but from a safety perspective, we are making sure schools are ready. Al Amiri said: “We have no difficulty in developing a clear plan to manage and operate our public schools, aiming to support our students and school officials and to develop our education system according to the demands and challenges of the future. In a press conference, Al Amiri said: “We started the new school year by conducting various training seminars for 22,557 teachers and administrators. The training will be carried out throughout the school year to develop education cadres and provide them with the latest methods and skills. ESE has hired 1,096 new teachers and educators to improve readiness and ability to meet current and future needs.”

Amiri also reiterated public school readiness, noting that “professional teams have effortlessly improved the readiness of 95 percent of public schools through regular maintenance.”

“We were able to provide equipment to 150 schools affected by recent weather conditions on the country’s east coast. Maintenance included building repairs, internet service and replacing damaged display devices and smart learning screens,” she explained.

Al Amiri also noted that ESE has distributed 857 new interactive screens in schools, in addition to providing spare equipment distributed to all schools for emergency use. ESE also provided all courses electronically on the Al Diwan platform and distributed 25,434 computers and 4,103,960 books.

Al Amiri also highlighted the Ajyal school model, which operates in partnership with the private sector and under the direct supervision of ESE. She noted that the number of students enrolled in the new model in the first school year of 2022-2023 has reached 5,902, spread across 10 schools across the country.

Meanwhile, Tawakul noted that more than 4,000 school buses are ready to provide school transportation this school year. 504 public schools were also equipped with 100 buses and 490 new school buses, transporting about 170,000 students.

Tawakul noted: “Our top priority at the UAE Ministry of Transport is the safety of our students, which is reflected in our comprehensive commitment to all safety requirements in cooperation with all parties, and we specifically ask parents to prepare their children and instruct them in school bus discipline. .”
