The 2022 Asian Cup qualifiers will be played by Oman at the Oman Cricket Academy Stadium in Al Amerat from August 20 to 24, it was announced on Wednesday.
The UAE, Kuwait, Hong Kong and Singapore will vie for a spot in the mega-event, which includes demo countries India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
Oman Cricket President and ACC Vice-President Pankaj Khimji is pleased with the decision by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in coordination with Sri Lanka Cricket.
“We are very grateful to have been chosen to host the 2022 Asian Cup qualifiers,” Khimji said.
“We assure Oman that of all the teams in the qualifiers, Oman leads the way in hospitality and facilities. We also sincerely thank the ACC and the SLC for choosing Oman as the venue for the ACC Major Event Qualifier,” he added.
Teams in the Asian Cup qualifiers have booked their spots in the 2020 ACC West Division – UAE and Kuwait, hosted by Oman, and the 2020 ACC East Division – Hong Kong, hosted by Singapore and Thailand.
