Quadruped investigation by one of the best units in Ras Al Khaimah Police Department.
Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Muhammad Abdullah, head of the Security Inspection Division of the Ras Al Khaimah Police Operations Directorate, confirmed that their k9 dogs solved 3,475 crimes in 2022.
Successful missions these dogs have gone on to perform include providing security at events, guarding, tracking and detecting drugs.
He highlighted the key role of the police k9 unit in fighting crime, enhancing security through guards and other operations.
Ras Al Khaimah police paid special attention to sniffer dogs, he added. Their health and therapeutic environment is taken care of and trainers are selected according to approved criteria. The dogs participated in training sessions that put them through hands-on exercises based on scenarios that simulate potential criminal cases. These canines are highly trained to investigate and uncover forensic evidence as quickly as possible.
“These dogs can quickly locate drugs because their sense of smell is 50 times stronger than humans. They can also help find missing persons, drugs, fugitives, stolen items, and find dead bodies in natural and man-made disasters,” he said.
