UAE: Registration for next Haj season to open in September

UAE: Registration for Next Haj Season to Open in September

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that the registration for the next Haj season will open in September. This news is highly anticipated by Muslims in the UAE, who are eager to fulfill the religious duty of Haj, one of the five pillars of Islam.

Haj, the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, is a significant religious obligation for Muslims. It is mandatory for all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey at least once in their lifetime. The pilgrimage occurs annually during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, and it attracts millions of Muslims from around the world.

The UAE government has always been proactive in ensuring that its citizens and residents can perform Haj with ease and comfort. The announcement of the registration dates is part of the UAE’s efforts to streamline the process and provide ample time for applicants to prepare.

Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, emphasized the importance of early registration. “By opening the registration in September, we aim to give our pilgrims sufficient time to complete all necessary preparations, including health checks and travel arrangements,” he stated.

The registration process for Haj in the UAE has been increasingly digitized, reflecting the country’s commitment to leveraging technology for public services. Prospective pilgrims can register through an online portal managed by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments. This portal allows applicants to fill out necessary forms, submit required documents, and track the status of their application.

The online system also provides detailed information about the pilgrimage, including travel packages, accommodation options, and guidelines for performing Haj rituals. Additionally, the portal offers a comprehensive FAQ section to address common queries and concerns of the applicants.

Given the ongoing global health concerns, the UAE government is prioritizing the health and safety of its pilgrims. In collaboration with the Saudi authorities, the UAE has established stringent health protocols to ensure a safe pilgrimage. These measures include mandatory health screenings, vaccinations, and COVID-19 testing.

Leading health official in the UAE, highlighted the importance of these measures. “Ensuring the health and safety of our pilgrims is our top priority. We are coordinating with Saudi health authorities to implement robust health protocols. All pilgrims will be required to undergo health checks and receive necessary vaccinations well before their departure,” she explained.

To prepare the pilgrims for the spiritual journey, the UAE has also launched various educational programs. These programs are designed to provide comprehensive guidance on performing Haj rituals and understanding the significance of each step. The educational initiatives include workshops, seminars, and online courses conducted by Islamic scholars and experts.

A prominent Islamic scholar in the UAE, spoke about the importance of these programs. “Performing Haj is a deeply spiritual and transformative experience. Our educational programs aim to equip pilgrims with the knowledge and understanding required to perform the rituals correctly and with a clear heart,” he said.

The UAE government is working closely with travel agencies and accommodation providers to offer a range of packages that cater to different needs and budgets. These packages include flights, ground transportation, accommodation in Mecca and Medina, and other essential services.

Representative of a leading travel agency in the UAE, discussed the travel arrangements. “We are committed to providing our pilgrims with comfortable and hassle-free travel experiences. Our packages are designed to ensure that every aspect of the journey, from transportation to accommodation, is well taken care of,” he stated.

Recognizing that some pilgrims may have special needs, the UAE has made provisions to ensure that the pilgrimage is accessible to all. Special assistance services are available for elderly pilgrims and those with disabilities. These services include wheelchair assistance, medical support, and dedicated staff to assist with the pilgrimage rituals.

An advocate for people with special needs, expressed her appreciation for these efforts. “It is heartening to see that the UAE is committed to making Haj accessible to everyone. The special assistance services ensure that every pilgrim, regardless of their physical condition, can perform their religious duties with dignity and ease,” she remarked.

In line with global efforts to promote sustainability, the UAE is also focusing on minimizing the environmental impact of the Haj pilgrimage. Initiatives include promoting the use of eco-friendly products, reducing waste, and encouraging pilgrims to follow sustainable practices during their journey.

An environmental expert, highlighted the significance of these efforts. “Haj is one of the largest annual gatherings in the world, and it is crucial to address its environmental impact. By promoting sustainability, the UAE is setting an example for other countries to follow,” he said.

The opening of registration for the next Haj season in September marks an important step in the UAE’s ongoing efforts to facilitate this sacred journey for its Muslim population. Through a combination of advanced technology, stringent health measures, educational programs, and comprehensive travel arrangements, the UAE is ensuring that its pilgrims can perform Haj with peace of mind and spiritual fulfillment.

As the date approaches, prospective pilgrims are encouraged to stay informed and prepare for the registration process. The UAE’s commitment to supporting its pilgrims reflects the nation’s broader dedication to upholding Islamic traditions and values, while also embracing modernity and innovation.

For more information and updates on the registration process, pilgrims can visit the official website of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments or contact their local Islamic centers.
