The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 48 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus on Tuesday, with 108 recoveries and no deaths.
The total number of active cases is 14,792.
The Chinese Consulate General in Dubai stated that from January 8, 2023, Beijing time, passengers from the United Arab Emirates to China must present a negative PCR test result 48 hours before boarding.
“Those who test negative should make a health declaration to Chinese customs before traveling to China, and there is no need to apply for an HS/HDC QR code from the Chinese embassy or consulate general in the UAE. Passengers who test positive should wait until the result is negative,” the consulate said in a statement on its website.
China is reporting around 4,000 new Covid-19 cases a day and announced it will reopen its borders after nearly three years from Jan. 8.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif on Tuesday directed relevant authorities to ensure urgent vaccination of children aged 5-12.
The prime minister, who chaired a meeting to review the country’s Covid-19 situation, directed to further improve screening at border points and airports. He also sought a third-party assessment of the screening process at border points and airports.
He noted that no coronavirus-related deaths have been reported nationwide in the past 15 weeks, and expressed the country’s gratitude to countries that donated vaccines to Pakistan.
