royal philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, today released the findings of its first United Arab Emirates (UAE) Health Trends Study, which sheds light on the state of healthcare locally.commissioned by philips Census coveragean independent market research consultancy, conducted the study to provide healthcare providers with an in-depth understanding of current health trends and public perceptions of healthcare in the UAE, enabling them to adapt to these changing needs to address current priorities and future needs.

The UAE Philips Health Trends Study reveals shifts in consumer perceptions and behaviors regarding health and technology that are expected to have a long-term impact on the way people think about and engage with healthcare in the future.
Three key themes stand out in the survey results:
Healthy Living and Prevention
The pandemic has led to increased health awareness among UAE residents, with 95% taking a proactive approach to protecting their health and 70% feeling more in control of their health since becoming ill.
Eighty-nine percent of respondents felt their current health was good, and an impressive 88% committed to becoming more proactive in maintaining their health and wellbeing. Additionally, UAE residents are aware of how different factors can affect their health, acknowledging that oral health affects their overall health (87%) and heart health (75%).
This drive to improve health is supported by four factors that make it easier for people to take care of their own health: better understanding of healthy living (53%), access to and maintenance of personal medical records (52%), provision of guided health Support for a mentorship program to help them stay on track (48%), and doctors have access to their information regardless of the hospital (48%).
The Power of Health Technology
The pandemic has accelerated the adoption of digital technologies in healthcare, increasing trust in medical technology. The UAE Philips Health Trends study revealed that 95% of respondents believe that technology can help manage their health more effectively because of its ease of use (51%), faster access to specialists and healthcare professionals (51%), better Easy access to results (50%) and allows all healthcare data to be stored in one place (46%).
With the majority of UAE residents believing in the benefits of digital health solutions, 67% of respondents confirmed that they are aware of telemedicine. Research shows that 90% of people would consider using a telehealth solution, and 72% feel that a virtual discussion with a doctor is as effective as an in-person exam.
The data confirms that UAE residents largely consent to being provided with access to their personal data for development purposes, with 38% allowing all their data, 37% allowing most of it, and 20% allowing The section to use for small amounts of data.

The Philips Health Trends study also revealed that a majority of UAE residents (82%) believe sustainability should be a priority for healthcare companies. Respondents’ top considerations also highlighted the importance of prioritizing practices that do not harm the environment, with 51% saying this was a key priority. Nearly half of respondents (48%) believe healthcare companies should conduct business in a sustainable manner, while 41% believe these companies should aim to be carbon negative.
These results demonstrate that UAE residents place a high value on sustainable business practices; increasing the need for healthcare leaders to achieve sustainable healthcare.

The Philips UAE Health Trends Study is conducted online by Censuswide, an independent market research consultancy. The UAE had 495 respondents aged 18-64 and they set quotas to ensure that the SEC groups and regions represented the national distribution. Gender quotas are also set to achieve a 50/50 split. The survey was conducted between May and June 2022.
