UAE residents battle heavy rain, floods

[ad_1]

“Guardians of the Galaxy 3”

Director: James Gunn

Starring: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan

The pop-culture giant’s Marvel Cinematic Universe shows no signs of slowing down in 2023, with five films planned for the year, including a new “Ant-Man and the Wasp” and another “sequel” ensemble with “Captain Marvel.” At the top of our list, though, is the return of the lovable rogue Guardians of the Galaxy led by Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). Last time around, the Guardians managed to buy Knowhere, intending to turn it into a become their headquarters and safe haven for alien refugees. Details are sketchy, but the plot will reportedly involve the team having to go on an adventurous mission to save one of their members. And possibly the universe. Directed by James Gunn ( (because he had the first two “Guardians” movies). Rumor has it that Rocket, the raccoon bounty hunter, will have a love interest: Lyla the Otter.

‘flash’

Director: Andy Musketti

Starring: Ezra Miller, Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kilsey Clemons

Meanwhile, Marvel’s superhero rival DC is pinning its hopes on several major new films, including Jason Momoa reprising his eponymous character in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, And this movie about the fastest superhero in existence. Given the ongoing controversy surrounding starring Ezra Miller, DC will be hoping the cliché about no publicity is bad publicity holds true and that the film isn’t DOA at the box office. Argentinian director Andy Muschietti, who directed the “It” film series, has been tasked with hosting the show. Inspired by the comic book storyline “Flashpoint,” the film sees Barry Allen/The Flash travel through time and space in an attempt to prevent the murder of his mother. Time travel, as you’d think so-called “high-intelligence” Allen knew, turns out to be a tricky business, with many unforeseen consequences. One of the perks is that we get to see multiple versions of Batman, with both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton recreating their versions of the caped crusader.

‘Barbie’

Director: Greta Gerwig

Cast: Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Simu Liu

Yes, a movie about the iconic Mattel doll — which over the years has become a symbol of society’s unrealistic ideals for women’s bodies — sounds like a terrible idea. but. This awful-sounding movie was co-written by Noah Baumbach (“Marriage Story”) and Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird”), who also directed it. It stars Robbie and Gosling, two of Hollywood’s brightest stars, as Barbie and Ken. Well expect plenty of sarcastic humor. Suddenly, it starts to sound as though — despite an extremely cynical marketing scheme that undoubtedly secured the film’s funding — this could be a lot of fun.

“Super Mario Bros. Movie”

Directors: Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic

Voices: Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black

It took Nintendo a while to move on from the disastrous 1993 film “Super Mario Bros.” Thirty years on, the Japanese video game giant is finally handing another license to Hollywood, this time with an animated adventure-comedy with brilliant voice actors based on its iconic game about two Italian plumbers Brother’s story. Horvath and Jelenic have a pedigree as creators of the often brilliant Teen Titans Go! That bodes well for the movie. Obviously, not even the cast members know the full plot, so the story remains unknown, but it’s reasonable to expect that Mario and Luigi will have to save Princess Peach from some kind of maze. Might be worth watching, just to judge Chris Pratt’s accent for yourself.

John Wick: Chapter 4

Director: Chad Stahelski

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Laurence Fishburne

The first three films in the “John Wick” franchise were pretty good at delivering adrenaline-pumping fights with minimal (by today’s standards) special effects, so we’re excited to see new surprises from the fourth Stahelski . Reeves returns as the less talkative legendary assassin who desperately wants to retire and live a quiet life. But the shadowy organization that oversees our anti-hero’s contract killer, the best ever, won’t let him. Now, Vic believes he has found a way to beat the High Table once and for all. But his escape is full of obstacles, including new enemies and close friends.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Directors: Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson

Voices: Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae

The highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s animated blockbuster, Into the Spider-Verse. Its predecessor was a brilliant, thrilling, and entertaining trip into an alternate universe that introduced us to many different incarnations of Spider-Man, including, of course, Brooklyn teen Miles Morales. In this follow-up film, Morales and his love interest Gwen Stacy (her universe’s Spider-Woman) team up to take on a new enemy that threatens the lives of all Spider-Man. They are aided by the Spider-Man team, which includes a British punk version of Spider-Man and a pregnant version of Spider-Man.

“Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune”

Director: James Mangold

Starring: Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas

Well, Steven Spielberg wasn’t the director, and George Lucas wasn’t the writer, but it was still Raiders of the Lost Ark (both were executive producers). The film is set in 1969, as an aging Dr. Jones joins his goddaughter Helena (Waller-Bridge) in search of the titular object. Jones is also wary of ex-Nazis working with the U.S. government to take on the Soviets in the space race, notably the sinister Jürgen Waller (Mickelson).

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1”

Director: Christopher McQuarrie

Starring: Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on its schedule, but the seventh installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is finally with us. Cruise is 60, but he continues to pull off many of his own stunts, including the spectacular motorcycle alight jump seen in the trailer. Esai Morales is the film’s as-yet-unnamed main villain. Details are being kept under wraps, but it’s safe to assume that Cruise’s agent Ethan Hunt and his IMF team will still have members of the Syndicate/Apostles to deal with, even though their leader has been defeated and We know Vanessa Kirby will return as weapons dealer Alanna Mitsopolis.

“Dune: Part Two”

Director: Denis Villeneuve

Starring: Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Zendaya

Frank Herbert’s “Dune” novel has long been considered “unfilmable,” but Villeneuve rebuts that in 2021’s “Part One.” Theory, he combined Herbert’s vision with his own to create an excellent sci-fi epic. In part two, Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, with the help of Chani and his new allies, the Fremen, seeks revenge on those who wiped out his family. Along the way, he must somehow stop the nightmarish future he foresees.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Songbird and the Snake

Director: Francis Lawrence

Starring: Tom Bryce, Rachel Ziegler, Hunter Shaffer, Jason Schwartzman

Just over a decade ago, the first “Hunger Games” movie propelled Jennifer Lawrence into mainstream stardom and cemented Suzanne Collins’ novel as a bona fide cultural phenomenon. “Snake Song” takes us back to that dystopian universe, but it’s a prequel to the four films that have come out so far. Blyth stars as young Coriolanus Snow (future President of Panem and villain of previous films), a mentor in the upcoming Hunger Games and a bond with District 12 tribute: Lucy Gray Baird. Expect revelations about what turned Snow into the monster he would become.
