Breaking news: UAE residents must be fully vaccinated…
From August 5, fully vaccinated UAE residents stranded in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria and Uganda are allowed to return to the UAE. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Agency (NCEMA) revealed the news on August 3.
NCEMA has announced a number of exemptions to current travel restrictions, in which passengers on flights from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and other countries/regions are not allowed to enter the UAE (The current Emirates ban on flights from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will continue until August 7). The entry of regular passengers from these countries is still suspended.

The vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers who can enter the UAE from August 5th include:
- Health workers working in the UAE, including doctors, nurses and technicians
- People who work in the education sector, such as universities, colleges, schools, and institutions
- UAE students
- Humanitarian cases with residency rights in the UAE
- Persons employed by federal and local government agencies
Entry exemptions for Expo participants include:
- UAE citizens and first-degree relatives
- UAE residents holding a gold or silver residence permit
- Diplomatic personnel between the UAE and applicable countries, including administrative personnel
- Official delegation that must be approved in advance
- International participants and exhibitors of Expo 2020; and their sponsors
- Crew of foreign company’s cargo and transit flights
- Male businessmen and businesswomen who must obtain multiple prior approvals
