Abu Dhabi: Residents urged not to buy food from unauthorized sources
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (Adafsa) urged residents not to buy food from unauthorized sellers.
Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the authorities carried out mass inspections of food businesses in different parts of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, especially confectioneries, bakeries, chocolate and confectionary factories, and popular kitchens.
Adafsa said they want to ensure that the food sold and produced at these locations is safe to eat, especially since these outlets typically experience a surge in customers during Eid.
More on-site inspections will continue to monitor businesses’ compliance with food hygiene and food safety standards.
During these visits, inspectors watch for any incorrect practices and ensure best practices are used in preparation, fabrication, storage, display and shipping.
Local authorities urged members of the public to promptly report any observations of food or improper cooking practices by contacting the Abu Dhabi Government Call Center on 800555. Adafsa emphasizes avoiding buying food from unlicensed sources.
