SHARJAH: Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Minister of Police and Public Security in Dubai and Chairman of the UAE Drug Control Council, has warned young people not to frequent cafes and other establishments for drug use, even though these establishments are legal in some countries.
Lt Gen Tamim said: “We will not hesitate to monitor these places and the young people who visit them and arrest them when they return to the state [UAE]”
The warning was issued at the opening of a drug prevention forum at the Al Zahia Mall in central Sharjah, under the slogan “Join us to stop it”, in the presence of Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police. , and senior officials.
The forum, which opened under the patronage of Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, was organized by the Ministry’s Directorate General of Narcotics Control in cooperation with Sharjah Police.

Lieutenant General Tamim praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of holding such events in commercial centers to deliver awareness messages to all segments of society. He pointed out that the slogan “Stop it with us”, launched by Sheikh Saif, is an important call for parents, youth and society at large to unite against drugs.
He said criminals were doing everything possible to introduce drugs into society, and stressed that the preventive measures taken by the police were strong, as evidenced by the high number of seizures.
Lieutenant General Tamim, accompanied by Major General Al Shamsi, visited the Consciousness Workshop and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the forum.
