The Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE) has issued a public clarification after a video with a “negative background” went viral. According to the agency, the video was filmed during the UAE National Day celebrations at a public school.

A parent took a video showing a foreign flag and posted it.

The body, which runs public schools in the UAE, said a large number of flags were displayed during school celebrations. The aim is to get congratulatory messages to UAE from all countries and in various languages.

“The matter is being investigated. ESE confirms that all public schools celebrate National Day with a high degree of responsibility and national awareness,” the statement said.

The school watchdog added that taking and publishing photos and videos of children without the permission of their guardians is not allowed under the country’s current laws.
