The UAE expresses its sincere condolences and solidarity with Turkey for the victims of a landmine explosion in the northern state of Balten, which killed and injured dozens of people.

In a statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) expressed its sincere condolences to the Turkish government, its people, and the families of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Rescuers found the body of the last missing miner at a coal mine on Saturday, bringing the death toll from a methane explosion to 41.

Shortly after arriving at the scene on Saturday afternoon, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the last missing person had been found dead.

“Our priority was to find the miner in the gallery. We finally got to the last one. He also died, bringing the death toll to 41,” he said, ending rescue operations more than 20 hours after the deadly explosion.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said earlier that 58 miners had survived the blast “either on their own or thanks to rescuers”.
