As part of its participation at Gitex Technology Week 2022 from 10-14 October, the Sharjah Finance Department (SFD) has launched a range of new digital payment methods from its headquarters in Jinan Park, Sharjah.

Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial Systems Department at SFD, said the package represents a support service for the smart receipt system Tahseel and will provide more convenient, faster and more flexible payment and communication methods.

“The contactless payment feature will enable customers to use Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to make quick payments with second-generation collection cards without having to insert the card into a card reader.”

“Payment packages using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and collectible bracelets have also been launched,” Al Yasi added. “This uses a digital wallet to enable customers to pay for small transactions, ensuring a fast and convenient payment experience.”

Tahseel Card Payment Package

SFD has also launched a payment card payment package using the smart app “Tahseel” (SoftPOS). Similar to the previous package, it relies on a contactless payment system via the NFC functionality available on most smartphones.

After downloading the Tahseel app (SoftPOS), mobile users do not need to install a card reader, just swipe the card near a smartphone or tablet to accept payments using a second-generation collection card.

NFC payment package

The new contactless payment system includes a payment package using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, a smart application via Smart Receipt (Tahseel) – a contactless payment similar to global e-wallets such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay system. Customers can use the machine card reader through the e-wallet to conduct government transactions quickly and easily without swiping the card directly.

When paying, customers can select the relevant function on the app, place their phone on the automatic reader, wait for the process to complete and display a payment notification on the smart app.

SFD is taking an ambitious strategic plan to upgrade services and delivery channels,” said Al Yasi, “and to build a smarter, more diverse and robust technology ecosystem by adopting best practices and digital technology systems. “
