Sharjah Police appealed to motorists to avoid obstructing traffic by parking behind vehicles in a manner that impedes movement.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, authorities warned residents that blocking traffic would cause traffic jams and potentially waste motorists’ time. In the UAE, illegal parking not only obstructs the passage of vehicles and pedestrians, but can even block the passage of fire hydrants, leading to potentially dangerous consequences in emergency situations.

Earlier this month, Abu Dhabi Police also urged motorists to avoid parking during Taraweeh or other prayers. Authorities urged drivers to obey traffic rules and obey parking laws during Ramadan, and warned them to be more vigilant, especially during prayer times.

New advice warns drivers of the dangers of parking in designated areas. According to Article 62 of the Federal Traffic Law, non-compliance with traffic rules will result in a fine of Dh500.

Last week, the emirate’s municipality also highlighted that parking in non-designated areas and on sidewalks, thereby disrupting the flow of traffic and causing inconvenience to other road users, could be fined up to Dh1,000.

The fine will be reduced to Dh500 if the fine is paid within 30 days of the violation being issued, the authority added.

Parking is also strictly prohibited at bus stations in Abu Dhabi. According to the Emirates Integrated Transport Authority (ITC), there are dedicated parking spaces for motorists to pick up and drop off passengers.Violation of the rules will As a result fined Dh2,000.
