Sharjah Police and Civil Defense said authorities are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safe passage of traffic and pedestrians during the celebrations and to respond to all emergencies. Police said patrols would be stepped up across the emirate to regulate traffic during New Year’s Eve celebrations. There will also be sea rescue patrols monitoring the beach over the holiday weekend.
Sharjah Police has also issued an advisory to the public asking them to take all precautionary measures at beaches, deserts and all other places of celebration and gathering during the festivities.
Brigadier General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, chaired a meeting to discuss Sharjah Police Command’s preparations to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. Senior officials from various departments of the Sharjah Police attended the meeting.
Brig Bin Amer emphasized that Sharjah Police is ready to face 2023 with a comprehensive security and traffic plan. He appealed to the public to cooperate with police officers and obey traffic instructions to avoid congestion and accidents.
The public is also advised to dial 999 for emergencies only and 901 for all non-emergencies and general inquiries.
