The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has appointed his son Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the emirate’s No. Second deputy ruler.
The move follows the death of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Sheikh’s brother and longtime deputy ruler until 2021.
In addition, Sheikh Mohammed appointed his other son, Maktoum bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as first deputy ruler. The new decree means Dubai now has two deputy rulers.
