DUBAI: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received 11 of the third Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Awards winners.
Initiated by Sheikh Mohammed, the award encourages research centres, individuals and innovators around the world to develop sustainable and innovative solutions to water scarcity. The award is overseen by the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE), under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative. The winners come from eight countries, including Honduras, India, the Philippines, the United States, Kenya, Malaysia, China and France.
The total prize money of the awards is US$1 million and consists of four main categories: Innovative Project Award, Innovative Research and Development Award, Innovative Individual Award and Innovative Crisis Solution Award. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid established Suqia UAE in 2015 to contribute to global solutions by developing solutions to water scarcity and providing drinking water to communities suffering from water scarcity and pollution. contribute to the water crisis.
