UAE T20 League 2022 Teams: The new six-team tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates next year.
One of two new T20 leagues is vying for a place in cricket’s already busy calendar, especially with the ILT20 (International League T20) taking place in the United Arab Emirates in the first two months of the year.
With the first season of another cash-rich tournament likely in 2023, ILT20 will be different from other domestic T20 leagues. As the name suggests, the ILT20 will be an international league with more overseas players represented than players from the host country (the UAE in this case).
“[The view of these boards] Yes there should be some rules or guidelines on the minimum number of local players that must be in each team for each match,” an International Cricket Board chief executive told ESPNcricinfo Earlier this month.
So under the current rules, the franchise will be allowed to field up to nine overseas players in their Playing XI. In addition to financial support, ILT20’s ability to provide more opportunities for overseas players also terrifies full members of the ICC (International Cricket Council). The lucrative deal could see international cricketers prefer ILT20 over international cricket in the future.

Approved by the European Central Bank (Emirates Cricket Board), ILT20 is owned by ECB Vice-President Khalid Al Zarooni. Readers must note that Al Zarooni is a director of one of the largest construction companies in Dubai.
While three teams will be owned by the franchise owners of the Indian Premier League (Reliance Industries, Calcutta Knights and GMR), the remaining three teams will be owned by Capri Global, Lancer Capital and Adani Sportsline. The full name, logo and other details about the franchise have yet to be finalized.
Named MI Emirates, the Reliance-backed ILT20 team has become the first to announce its roster 14 outright acquisitions.
