According to figures provided by the council, there are currently 300 Afghan businessmen operating in the United Arab Emirates and this contract will facilitate their travel.
“This contract is worth nearly $400 million. With the help of this contract, our youth, technical and professional employees will have jobs. Trade and investment between Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates will increase due to this agreement, ” said trader Jamal Nasir Ebadi.
Under the contract, in addition to enhancing the capabilities of Kabul airport staff, GAAC will purchase the tools needed for aircraft guidance.
The Taliban said the use of Afghan airspace by international aircraft had dropped by 80 percent in recent months, affecting the Afghan government’s revenue, according to local media.
Tolo News quoted an Afghan Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MTCA) official as saying that in a 24-hour period, 60 to 70 planes passed through the country’s airspace and Afghanistan was earning $700 per plane passing through the country’s airspace.
Notably, Afghanistan has six air corridors linking South and Central Asia.
