UAE: Temporary hotel accommodation in Sharjah for 13 stranded Sudanese passengers – News

Airport authorities transport passengers granted accommodation to where they receive all necessary care

Thirteen Sudanese, including family members, have been stranded at Sharjah International Airport, unable to continue their journey due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The Sharjah Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team (ECDMT) provided support and shelter to them, ensuring their needs were met during this difficult time.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Major General Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Head of ECDMT, said the stranded Sudanese passengers had arrived at Sharjah International Airport via various countries but were unable to continue their journey due to Khartoum Mu Airport is closed.

The ECDMT team coordinated with the airport authorities to check for stranded Sudanese passengers and received information on 13 passengers who landed in Sharjah on April 14-15. Upon receiving the news of the stranded passengers, ECDMT acted immediately, approaching them and offering moral support and care, reassuring them that Sharjah is their home.

They were taken by bus to a hotel in Sharjah, where they received all the necessary care and support in cooperation with the Ministry of Civil Aviation. “The team will continue to follow up on their affairs and provide them with the best moral support and care, especially for families with children.”

Suaad Musa, one of the Sudanese stranded in Sharjah, thanked the Sharjah authorities for their help and support and especially thanked the Sharjah police for comforting her family, including her two children. She said they were in shock and worried about what to do and where to go. “When we were told that all flights in Sudan were canceled due to the conflict, I started crying and panicking because I didn’t know where to go with my two children without enough money in my pocket. Then an official from the Sharjah authorities found I didn’t calm me down. I started crying again seeing their humanitarian gesture. They welcomed us and treated us with great kindness.”

Another passenger, Khalifa, said he was from Saudi Arabia and was on his way to Khartoum and was shocked by the news but not worried because he was sure Zayed’s sons Won’t leave them wandering in the airport.
