On Wednesday, the airline said it would extend the suspension of flights from India and Pakistan until “further notice.”
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways stated that the suspension of passenger flights to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka may be extended beyond August 7, 2021.
The Emirates National Airlines announced earlier that flights from the Indian subcontinent will be suspended until August 7. On Wednesday, the airline said it would extend the suspension of flights from India and Pakistan until “further notice.”
“According to the latest directives of the UAE government, passenger travel from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to the UAE and Etihad networks has been suspended until August 7, 2021. Please note that this is a constantly changing situation. The date may need to be extended to meet government requirements,” the airline said in a statement to Khaleej Times.
Dubai-based Emirates Airlines also announced that it will suspend scheduled passenger flights from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to the UAE until at least August 7. Further expansion of the restriction is still under review.
Emirates does not allow passengers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or India to be transported. However, UAE nationals, diplomats, official delegations and golden visa holders are not subject to entry restrictions. These passengers will be subject to acceptance and quarantine conditions.
Etihad Airways stated that cargo flights will continue to operate in both directions and will not be affected in any way.
The airline stated that it is working closely with affected guests to notify them of changes to the itinerary.
