DUBAI – The International Golf Federation has announced that the Emirates Golf Federation will host the World Amateur Team Championship in 2023, following a vote at the IGF’s biennial meeting held virtually. This marks the first time an event dating back to 1958 has been held in the Middle East.
The 30th Espirito Santo Cup Women’s Championship will be held from October 18-21, and the 33rd Eisenhower Cup Men’s Championship will be held from October 25-28, 2023.
The Emirates Golf Federation was selected after the Singapore Golf Association was identified as finalists by the IGF tender panel from an initial group of eight national federation members who expressed interest in hosting the biennial men’s and women’s team events.
“Both candidates provided exceptionally strong bid proposals, which were noted by the IGF Administrative Committee and the IGF bid team,” said IGF Executive Director Antony Scanlon. “We are very grateful for the interest and strong case from the Singapore Golf Association. At the same time, the Emirates Golf Federation has made a compelling case that resonates with our member organisations and we are delighted to be hosting our first edition World Amateur Team Championships” in the Middle East. We look forward to partnering with the Emirates Golf Federation to deliver unforgettable events and experiences to athletes in 2023. “
The Emirates Golf Federation will host the Greg Norman-designed fire at Dubai’s Jumeirah Golf Estate.
