ABU DHABI – The UAE, in partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) General Secretariat, will host the 4th GCC Visual Arts Forum from 20-25 December 2022.
The forum will feature a selection of Gulf artists from all branches of the visual arts at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, and will host an art exhibition until 30 December.
The forum aims to promote the creativity of GCC artists in accordance with the GCC Cultural Strategy 2020-2030 launched at the direction of the GCC Heads of State and Minister of Culture.
The programme also includes a series of technical workshops, cultural tours and networking events to facilitate greater exchange of knowledge and experience among participants.
Also inspired by the event’s slogan “You and Me, When?”, the exhibition will serve as a platform to elevate the status of art and support the artist’s cultural vision.
The art exhibition will honor the three best entries in the four categories of “Visual Arts”, “Traditional Arabic Calligraphy”, “Arabic Calligraphy Letters” and “Photography”.
Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, said in a statement: “The UAE takes investment in artistic energy and creativity very seriously. Art projects are important to our mental health and are the foundation of civilization and human development. . Such art projects create a fertile and favorable environment for more creation. This forum is an opportunity to observe the creativity of Gulf artists up close. It is a promising platform for exchanges, mutual learning of experiences and development of new technologies to advance Art in the area.”
She continued: “We have developed a comprehensive strategy to implement a series of cultural programmes to promote cultural seasons in GCC countries. These will help maintain continuity while also supporting efforts to revitalise our region’s folklore and Its introduction to the world as an integral part of our Arab identity. We take our efforts to create art very seriously and support artists and creators to access global platforms. Showcasing their work will open up new avenues for them and free them to hone their own Opportunity Craft.”
The art exhibition presents a variety of works by the participating artists, which will be judged by a panel of experts on a particular subject selected by the organizing country. Based on a set of criteria, three entries will be selected for Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.
Exhibitors can register through the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Youth https://mcy.gov.ae and email their entries to gcc_forum@mcy.gov.ae.
The deadline for submissions to the exhibition is November 21st. Each entrant can only submit one entry and upload it in PDF format.
Winners will receive prize money and all participants will receive a certificate of appreciation for their participation in the event.
