UAE to host Afghanistan’s home games for next five years

Afghanistan to play home games in UAE for next five years

This United Arab Emirates Afghanistan will host Afghan home games for the next five years under an agreement signed between the two cricket boards.

The move was prompted by the political situation in Afghanistan, which has yet to host an international team.

As part of the deal, trial nation Afghanistan will play the UAE in three T20I series matches in each of five years.

“We are delighted to support the ACB in ensuring they provide a home for the game of cricket,” Mubashir Usmani, secretary-general of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), said in a statement.

“We also thank the Afghanistan Cricket Board for agreeing to play a series of T20I matches with the UAE every year.

“This will provide valuable opportunities for our UAE team and help them develop,” he added.

So far, the Afghan team has been playing and training on a series-by-series basis.

The ECB will also provide logistical support to the ECB.according to OOOAfghanistan will host Australia, Pakistan and the West Indies in three ODIs each, as well as Zimbabwe in various forms, under the Future Tour Plan (FTP), heading into the 2023 ODI World Cup next year.
The matches will be played at various venues in Abu Dhabi, dubai and Sharjah.
