The UAE will host Afghanistan’s home games for the next five years under an agreement signed between the two cricket boards. The move was prompted by the political situation in Afghanistan, which has yet to host an international team.
As part of the deal, trial nation Afghanistan will play the UAE in three T20I series matches in each of five years.
“We are delighted to support the ACB in ensuring they provide a home for the game of cricket,” Mubashir Usmani, secretary-general of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), said in a statement.

“This will provide valuable opportunities for our UAE team and help them develop,” he added.
So far, the Afghan team has been playing and training on a series-by-series basis. The ECB will also provide logistical support to the ECB.
Under the ICC’s Future Tour Program (FTP), Afghanistan will host Australia, Pakistan and the West Indies in three ODIs each, as well as Zimbabwe in various forms, heading into the 2023 ODI World Cup next year. Matches will be played at venues in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
