The AJP Tour Asian Continental Professional Championships, organised by the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professionals (AJP), got off to a colorful start on Saturday at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City. The UAE has won the most medals.

A fierce mat battle between contestants from the prestigious academy and the raucous spectators in the stands made the first day of the tournament special.

In Saturday’s match, the fighters fought their way through the Junior, Junior and Masters divisions, with the Commandos taking first place, Palm Sports Team-777 taking second and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club taking third. . In terms of country rankings, Colombia and Brazil are in second and third place respectively.

The athletes of the Brazilian Academy put on a fantastic show on Saturday. Among them was Jorge Pereira, a black belt from Brazil’s JSBJJ Academy, who competed in the 77kg Masters and won gold. “We take AJP Championships very seriously because they help us advance our careers and improve our rankings. I have been competing in AJP Championships all over the world. I came to Abu Dhabi from Brazil not only to compete for medals but also to prepare for the Abu Dhabi World Career Jiu-Jitsu Championships,” he said.

In turn, Ayaz Suleymanov, a black belt from Renzo Gracie Azerbaijan who won gold in the Masters (94KG) category, said: “I signed up for this event as part of our rigorous training for the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Abu Dhabi. Today The tournament was an extraordinary experience. The continental Asian pros based in Abu Dhabi provided us with an unforgettable learning experience that will help us improve our skills.”

Blue belt Mariam Al Ali from Palms Sports – Team 777 managed to win the Junior Women’s 48kg category. “Today’s game provides us with a great opportunity to develop and refine our skills as we will be playing against some of the best international players from different international clubs and academies. It has given us a huge boost both technically and physically skill development.”
