Kobashi Daisuke, Executive Director of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) in Dubai, said: “I am pleased that the online application for short-stay visas in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as well as the visa-free arrangement for short-term stays for Qatari nationals, will be implemented as this will simplify visits for tourism purposes. “It is also particularly timely as these measures have been launched in time for Eid travel, and Japanese tourists in April and May can enjoy and make the most of the spectacular spring weather and stunning new green verdant landscapes.”
Travel from GCC countries to Japan has been steadily increasing, Daisuke said, making it one of the few international markets showing a level of post-Covid recovery.
The current figures even exceed the number of tourists in 2019. “As major airlines further resume Japan routes, I believe demand for Japan tourism will continue to rise,” he added.
