UAE travel guide: People with only one name on their passports are not allowed entry

[ad_1]

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has changed entry rules for international travelers from 21 November. Indian airlines such as Air India and IndiGo have issued statements informing passengers of the change.

In a circular posted on its website, Air India said any single-name passport would not be allowed to enter the UAE. “Any passport holder with only one name (word) in their surname or first name will not be accepted by UAE Immigration and the passenger will be considered INAD (inadmissible),” it said.

The airline said that if a person has a first or last name on their passport, such a passenger will not be granted a visa, and immigration will not allow him entry if the visa has been issued before.

This new regulation applies only to passengers holding visitor visas, visas on arrival, work visas and temporary visas, and does not apply to existing UAE resident card holders.

IndiGo also issued a statement saying that passengers with only one name on their passports holding tourist, visit or any other type of visas are not allowed to travel to and from the UAE.

“In accordance with the directives of the UAE authorities, passengers holding tourist, visit or any other type of visas with only one name on their passports will not be permitted to travel to and from the UAE from 21 November 2022,” it said.

However, the budget airline said passengers with only one name on their passports and holding residence permits or work visas will be allowed to travel as long as the same name is updated in the “First Name” and “Last Name” columns.
