On Monday, the speaker of the Federal National Assembly of the United Arab Emirates affirmed the outstanding relationship his country and Turkey share.
Saqr Ghobash attended the swearing-in ceremony of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday.
He conveyed “the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, wishing him to be re-elected President of the Republic of Turkey.”
“The presence of Emiratis at the inauguration reflects Turkey’s special status to the UAE leadership and people,” Gobash told Anadolu.
He also confirmed “the UAE’s sincere desire to strengthen relations with Turkey.”

“His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to Turkey in November 2021 and His Excellency President Erdogan’s visit to the UAE in February 2022 are important leaps forward in the development of our relations ,” Gobash told Anadolu.
“The UAE and Turkey are active and influential members of the regional and international working system,” he added.
“The special relationship between the two countries plays an important role in laying the groundwork for promoting peace and regional economic development,” he said.
Gorbash emphasized that “the current international and regional situation requires more dialogue, cooperation and understanding to enhance trust and put forward diverse perspectives on issues of common concern.”
“There are great opportunities for our two countries to deepen cooperation in the areas of technology, renewable energy, culture and tourism,” he added.
He also noted that “Turkey’s active participation in Expo 2020 Dubai reflects the importance of building bridges of cooperation between our two countries.”

“The sincere will of the leaders of our two countries, especially the re-election of President Erdogan, constitutes the main pillar in the development of the strategic relationship between the UAE and Turkey,” Ghobash said.
“The UAE is Turkey’s first trading partner in the Gulf region and its 12th globally,” he noted.
“There are more than 400 companies with UAE capital operating in Türkiye and more than 200 Turkish companies operating in the UAE,” he added.
Gobash believes that “the past few months have been very critical, especially in the field of economic and trade cooperation.”
“A lot of the investment is happening in key areas like transportation, health care and energy,” he said. “This reflects the desire of both countries to increase their active engagement to increase economic and trade opportunities.”
“Both countries have advanced technological infrastructure and have the opportunity to help many countries with their digital transformation,” he said.

“Parliamentary relations play a key role in strengthening relations between countries,” Ghobash said.
“This certainly applies to the parliamentary relationship between the Federal National Assembly and the Turkish Grand National Assembly,” he added.
Ghobash affirmed that “Turkey and the UAE can develop relations at the parliamentary level by increasing the scope of parliamentary visits at the presidential and friendship committee levels.”
“Our two committees could also agree to create joint action mechanisms through which they can exchange experience in the areas of supervisory and legislative work,” he added.

“The strong and distinguished relationship between the UAE and Turkey is a cornerstone of regional and international peace and security,” the Emirati official told Anadolu.
He also emphasized that “a strong bilateral relationship helps to build a unified position to deal with regional or international crises.”
“The region cannot afford more polarization,” he noted. “The coming decades will require more exchanges, integration and cooperation in the fields of politics, economics, technology, health and food.”
He affirmed that “the UAE seeks through its diplomacy to establish a state of interdependence based on the common interests of countries in the region.”
