AL AIN – The United Arab Emirates University today announced the launch of a series of activities under the theme ‘UAE Innovates’ at the launch of Innovation Month 2023, in the presence of Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the President of the UAE University, as well as several UAEU leaders, staff and students.
Nusseibeh said, “Through continuous efforts in research, development and strategic education programmes, UAE University aims to produce a generation of students who will lead the future and realize the vision of wise leadership, making the best minds in the UAE a global innovation hub.
“We are delighted that all the initiatives and activities the University has launched during Innovation Month over the past few years have spread the culture of innovation tremendously. It has encouraged a spirit of competition and highlighted innovation and creativity, as well as innovative projects by pioneering faculty and students.”
He added: “This year, we look forward to seeing your creations and innovations, proving to everyone that UAE University is a university of the future that will lead to a bright future filled with technological innovation for our generation and future generations.”
The launch ceremony included presentations of projects by UAEU staff, researchers and students. The Ministry of Consolidated Agriculture presents hydroponics and aquaponics setups in nutrient film technology for comparison of coriander herb production.
The School of Engineering presents “Roll-expander tube-to-tubesheet joints using friction stir welding process for heat exchanger applications”. The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering presents a method for the recovery of ammonia from contaminated water, including Solvay wastewater and aqueous solutions. In addition, the Khalifa Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology presented a number of projects related to agricultural sustainability.
