UAE university students vie for government communications award

The top three winners of the competition will receive the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) on the last day of IGCF 2022 in the category “Best University Initiative to Qualify Future Staff in Government Communication”.

There are also panel discussions that will cover a variety of topics including skills needed in the digital age, the role of social media platforms in the communication ecosystem, the future of media academies, the impact of communication on educational outcomes and more.

IGCF 2022 is organised by the International Government Communication Centre (IGCC) initiated by the Sharjah Government Media Authority. Programs for the forum will be led by 160 senior public officials, thought leaders and experts who will emphasize the role of government communications in overcoming local and global governance challenges.

Prince Saad bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud, Dean, Faculty of Media and Communication, Imam Mohammed ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia; Dr. Heba Al Samri, former Dean, Faculty of Mass Communication, Al Nahda University, Egypt; Mass Communication, Yarmouk University, Jordan Dr. Tahseen Mansour, Dean of the School of Communication, will moderate a session titled “The Future of the Media School and the Impact of Communication on Educational Outcomes”.

Along with moderator Dr. Aisha Al Busmait, Director of Communications, Federal Transport Authority – Government of Land and Maritime, the panelists will discuss the importance of advancing courses across the communications sector, emphasizing the importance of hands-on training opportunities to build a successful career in the field.

On September 28, a presentation titled “Prospects for Digital Communications and Institutional Cooperation”, organized by the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, will explore the most effective ways to advance communication tools and emphasize the importance of institutional cooperation and connecting with different stakeholders to simplify access. Best practices satisfy beneficiaries and the public.

The session will be moderated by Dr. Rania Abd Razek, Head of the General Secretariat of the Arab Communication and Public Relations Network, and will be moderated by Dr. Nasser Al Hatlan Al Qahtani, Director-General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development; Sultan Al Bazie, Chief Executive Officer of the Theatre and Performing Arts Authority and Arab President, Society for Social Responsibility; Christophe Ginisty, International Public Relations Specialist and Crisis Management Specialist.

Panelists including Wedad Bu Hamid, Director, Government Communications, Dubai Health Authority; Mona Khalil, Director, Government Communications, Ministry of Community Development; Naglaa Doukhi , Director of Government Communications – Nationality and Residence; Major Reem Sabah, Deputy Director of the Security Media Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, will stress that government communications cadres must possess a wide range of skills to perform tasks ranging from performing news gathering, transmission and editing tasks to analyzing and presenting news Attractive forms and templates. The conference will be moderated by Professor Ghalia Al Ahbabi, Director of Government Communications at Emirates University.
