Noura Al Kaabi welcomes US congressional delegation
UAE Minister of Culture and Youth Noura Al Kaabi recently met with an eight-member delegation from the US Congress to discuss how the two countries can cooperate on cultural issues to promote peace in the region and around the world.
Led by Congressman Brett Horton, US officials are on an official visit to the country from September 4-11.
During the meeting, Al Kaabi shared insights on how the UAE’s focus on culture has helped the country drive strategy and policy.
“We strongly believe in the importance of peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance and diversity of expression, and their importance to humanity. Cultural diplomacy is high on the agendas of both countries and needs to be discussed on a global scale,” the minister said.
The delegation’s visit coincided with the second anniversary of the Abraham Accords and gave officials a first-hand look at what was achieved through the landmark agreement.
The Abraham Accords established diplomatic normalization between the UAE and Israel, promoting increased trade, investment, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties.
“The delegation was eager to learn about the various policies driving the UAE’s exponential growth and how the two countries can further strengthen their friendship,” said Al Kaabi.
The minister also spoke in detail about the UAE’s policy on youth empowerment and how the two countries can cooperate in this area.
“Youth is the largest demographic group in our country and our leadership has ensured that the youth of the country have the necessary support and infrastructure to make a meaningful contribution to the development of the country,” Al Kaabi said.
The U.S. congressional delegation also met with other senior Emirati officials and ministers to discuss bilateral relations and other issues of global concern.
On the agenda are the UAE’s efforts in various areas affecting the world, such as climate change, the sustainable development agenda and regional conflicts.
