On April 26-27, 2023, a UAE delegation led by Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei paid an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During his visit, the Minister chaired the third round of political consultations between the UAE and Uzbekistan and participated in the second Tashkent International Investment Forum.
On the first day, the two sides reviewed areas of cooperation and bilateral strategic relations and explored ways to strengthen these areas. The officials praised the achievements of the UAE-Uzbekistan strategic partnership in the field of government modernization, and the two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The next day, Al Mazrouei participated in a panel discussion at the Forum, accompanied by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Mazroui congratulated the Republic of Uzbekistan on successfully hosting the second Tashkent International Investment Forum and thanked Uzbekistan for its invitation and hospitality.
The minister emphasized that cooperation between the two countries is not limited to the clean and green energy sector, underscoring the UAE’s desire to expand cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan in various fields, including transport and infrastructure. During the plenary session, he stressed that the UAE will continue to assist in the achievement of Uzbekistan’s economic and investment goals.
Al Mazrouei confirmed that Emirati companies such as Mubadala, Masdar and Taqa are currently operating in Uzbekistan and have plans to increase investment in the future, reflecting the strength of the investment environment for foreign companies.
For his part, President Mirziyoyev praised the strategic partnership between the UAE and Uzbekistan, stressing the importance of the Masdar project in Uzbekistan. He noted that the UAE was one of the first countries to support the Republic of Uzbekistan’s growth and development efforts. The President of Uzbekistan also thanked President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support for the strategic partnership.
