Fees range from AED 260 to AED 610, and some permits can be extended for up to 90 days depending on purpose of visit and other factors

Applications for extended entry clearance can now be made online through the Federal Identity, Citizenship, Client and Port Security Administration’s website or smart app, according to a report.
An extension may be granted within 48 hours provided all requirements and conditions are met.
The extension depends on the type of entry permit that has been issued, Arab daily Emarat Al Youm reported. It added that the smart service is available 24/7 throughout the week.
Here are the steps to apply for an extension:
- Register and create an account in the smart service system.
- Apply and pay the required fee.
But the report pointed out that the passport of the guarantor must have at least six months of validity, and the application for the tourist entry permit should be handled by the relevant travel company.

The extension is valid for 30 days – twice – at a cost of Dh610. For GCC residents, the fee for applying for a 30-day extension is Dh260 and a passport copy must be attached, according to the newspaper.
There are three circumstances in which the extension may exceed one month:
- Healthcare Entry Permit – Can be extended up to 90 days at a cost of AED 510.
- Entry clearance for accompanying GCC citizens, extendable for 60 days at a cost of Dh260
- Study Permit – Dh610 Can be extended for 90 days.
The new rules also stipulate the duration of stay for visiting entry permits, the document said. The period will be determined according to the purpose of the visitor’s visit and at the discretion of the authorities and shall not exceed one year.
The head of the authority can extend a visit-entry permit if there are serious grounds for the application and all fees have been paid, the newspaper said.
