UAE Visa: I have two UID numbers, what should I do?

[ad_1]

Dubai: Are you having trouble applying for a UAE residence visa because you have multiple “UID” numbers in your name? If so, the solution is very simple.

Any expatriate visiting or residing in the UAE holds a visa issued by the immigration authorities of each emirate. The visa contains various details such as document number, date of issue, expiry date and “UID number”. The UID number is unique among other details of the visa because it is a number that remains the same even if you move from one type of visa to another. Therefore, if you have visited the UAE in the past and then returned to the UAE on a family or work visa, then all of these visas usually have the same UID number on them.

However, in some cases you may have more than one UID number issued in your name. When does this happen? How does having multiple UID numbers affect you?

Here’s everything you need to know.

What is a UID number?

The Uniform Number (UID number) mentioned on the visa is part of the Federal Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) records. UID was introduced in 2010 with Emirates ID. It is a unified six-digit number that remains the same even if you transfer from one visa to another.

Why do I need to merge UID numbers?

According to Patricia Younes, Customer Relations Manager at Business Incorporation Zone, in some cases, people may have multiple UID numbers.

She said: “When people come to the UAE, sometimes they may get multiple UID numbers, either because they have passed through different airports, or because they have been granted entry permits for different visits to the UAE, with different permits UID number.”

“Issuing a residence visa can be complicated when a person has multiple UID numbers. Their visa application may be returned, possibly due to multiple UID numbers,” she added.

How to merge UID numbers?

You can apply for a combined service by contacting the immigration authorities in the emirate or by registering a service provider that offers such services.

Therefore, in Dubai, you need to apply for the service through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (Dubai) through an Amer Centre or a registered service provider such as a typing centre.

In other UAE, you can apply for the service by visiting a typing centre registered with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).

Documents required for UID merging

Below is the list of documents you need to submit for your request:

• Copy of passport, including signature page
• Copies of old and current visas
• Cancellation documents, if your visa was recently cancelled
• Requires merged UID numbers
