UAE’s new visa regime – many new arrivals under itelectronicThe introduction of visas such as golden visa, green visa, freelancer visa, multi-year tourist visa and many other visas will meet the demand for talents in the new economy.
Economy Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri said the flow of talent is the engine of the economy.
“The question for any businessman who wants to do business in the economy of the future is where he will find talent. New visa regimes such as golden visas, green visas, freelance visas are part of the mobility that can move the economy forward development,” he said.
The new economy is defined as new age technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, Internet of Things, automation, cryptocurrency, 3D printing, etc.
The Minister of Economy was speaking at the launch of the ‘Future 100’ initiative, which aims to support 100 start-ups in new sectors shaping the UAE’s future economy.
Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Government Development and Future State; CEOs representing local and international companies, start-ups, and Emirati entrepreneurs were also present at Tuesday’s launch.
The UAE has been issuing golden visas, retirement visas, freelance visas and multiple-entry tourist visas to attract the best talent from around the world. Thousands of people have been granted long-term golden visas so far.
“Immigration policies have had a big impact on mobility. With the new visa regime, we want the best talents to come and live and work in the UAE. The flexible visa regime will help them enjoy the best quality of life that the UAE has to offer. There are talents in the UAE, Universities will also help fill gaps in the new economy,” he said, adding that the Ministry of Economy’s Next Generation FDI and Next Generation Talent programs will also play a key role in the new economy.
