UAE warns Israel’s Netanyahu against far-right government

The United Arab Emirates’ foreign minister has reportedly told Israeli opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu that he fears far-right lawmakers could be included in the next Israeli government if the former Israeli prime minister wins the Nov. 1 election .

according to Love NewsSheikh Abdullah bin Zayed met with Netanyahu during a visit to Israel last month, and the two talked for more than two hours.

Sources briefed on the meeting told the site that the UAE foreign minister told Netanyahu he was concerned about politicians with extremist views. One of the sources said he “appears” to be referring to the leader of the Jewish power faction Itamar Ben-Gwil.

The report went on to say that Netanyahu “listened to (these) concerns but did not respond.”

Both parties declined to comment on the meeting Love News.

“This isn’t the first time Israel has heard of this from abroad, and it won’t be the last,” Owen Altman said. i24 News correspondent. “That said, the UAE has invested so much in its relationship with Israel that one would think that an issue like this wouldn’t damage that relationship.”

Ben-Gvir and his faction, part of the religious Zionist party, are expected to win 13-14 parliamentary seats in the election, making it Israel’s third-largest party.

Both Smotrich and Ben-Gvir have a history of making questionable comments about Arab citizens of Israel. Ben-Gvir was investigated in December 2021 after video surfaced of weapon-wielding during a parking dispute with Arab security guards. last month, Smotrich calls for a ban on Arab political parties in Israel.

UAE isn’t the only country to warn Netanyahu against far-right lawmakers as U.S..S. Senator Robert Menendez reportedly told Netanyahu last month Ben-Gvir’s entry into a future government would damage U.S.-Israel relations.
